Miki is a dreamer and a doer.
Miki does…a lot. In 2017, she was dubbed 2017′s Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. Last year, it was Crain’s 40 Under 40 list and the cover of Entrepreneur magazine (#himom). A few years ago, when Miki was given the Tribeca Film Festival’s Disruptive Innovation Award and named one of Forbes’ 20 Millennials on a Mission, ppl were like…what the f does this big-hatted lil’ lady even do?
Miki menstruates. She is Co-Founder / SHE-E-O / Chief Inventor-er of THINX : the period-proof underwear company that’s disrupting the $15 billion feminine-hygiene market. THINX = one of Fast Company’s “World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2017” + one of Time Magazine’s “25 Best New Inventions of 2015.” In its first giveback partnership, THINX helped over 60,000 girls in Uganda return to school. But for Miki, that wasn’t enough. 2017 marks the launch of the THINX Foundation, which will teach its *very own* health and entrepreneurship curriculum to girls around the world.
Miki pees. ~Actually~ 1 in 3 ladies pee a lil’ when they laugh, jump, sneeze, or make sweet sweet lurve. So Miki n’ co created another gorgy pee-proof underwear called ICON to help women stay their MOST unapologetic selves. For every pair sold, money goes to the Fistula Foundation to provide care for women with obstetric fistula in developing countries.
Miki poops. Her newest brand TUSHY upgrades the American bathroom experience (cuz like…yikes) with ~sleek~ installable bidets. Each purchase helps Samagra combat the global sanitation crisis affecting 40% of the world.
Miki eats. Thankfully, she founded the acclaimed farm-to-table gluten-free pizza concept WILD NY. The restaurant will ring in its 12-year anniversary in 2017 (ding)! She has 3 locations in NYC and is opening her 4th location in a beautiful town in Guatemala with her operating partners.
Miki writes. Book numero uno, DO COOL SH*T, hit #1 on Amazon Bestseller List in Entrepreneurship. Book numero dos, F*CK YES, will grace shelves in early 2018.
Always, Miki loves. She’s an identical twin, the daughter of a Japanese mom and an Indian dad, an og French-Canadian, a Wall Street dropout, a graduate of Cornell University, and (drum roll plz…) an expecting mama.
